Qantas Founders Museum is a world-class museum located in Longreach, Queensland and is home to the oldest civil aviation building in Australia. The museum is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preserving the history and telling the story of Australia’s National Icon. We connect with the public through experiences, education, collections, and displays. Characters of the early Qantas days, their pioneering spirit and the impact the airline had for all Australians, is brought to life through life size exhibits, historical artifacts and interactive displays including the National Heritage Listed Qantas Hangar.

Our team is passionate and dedicated, providing a high level of customer service and experience. A key part of the role is enjoying communicating with the public and providing a fresh and vibrant tour through the museum’s Airpark Enclosure, home to the Boeing 747, Boeing 707, DC-3 and Super Constellation. In-house training is provided to all new employees to teach them the tour, how to use the Point of Sale (POS) and Reservations software and other tasks associated with the role. The museum is open daily.

Longreach is an outback town in Central Western Queensland with schools, pool, permanently manned police station, parks, other tourist attractions, river, sporting facilities, Caravan Parks and accommodation venues. Longreach is serviced daily by commercial flights, with daily QantasLink flights from Brisbane and twice weekly Rex flights from Townsville. Senior Curator

Are you ready to lead a world-class curatorial team and shape Australia's aviation heritage? Qantas Founders Museum — an award-winning museum with art gallery at the birthplace of Qantas — is seeking an experienced curator to lead the care, interpretation and renewal of one of Australia's most distinctive heritage collections.

This is a senior leadership role for a curator who wants more than business-as-usual. You'll lead collections stewardship and curatorial practice,drive exhibition renewals and innovative projects, manage significant funded initiatives, and help shape the future of a landmark regional museum — all while enjoying the genuine lifestyle and creative freedom that regional Queensland offers.

What you'll be doing?
Lead collections stewardship
— Manage a nationally significant aviation collection with professional curatorial practice, conservation strategies, and heritage compliance.
Drive museum innovation
— Develop and lead exhibition improvements, upgrades, and contemporary interpretation across     physical and digital platforms.
Deliver major projects — Manage funded and capital projects from concept to completion, coordinating budgets, timelines, consultants,     and stakeholders.
Secure funding & recognition — Write competitive grant applications, prepare acquittals, and lead award submissions that recognise museum excellence.
Build sector relationships
— Represent the Museum at industry events, conferences, and professional networks, contributing to contemporary curatorial practice.
Lead & mentor your team
— Supervise a Curatorial & Collections Assistant, support other team member and foster a collaborative culture focused on excellence.

Casual Customer Service & Tour Guides

Do you want to be a part of a multi award winning museum and a dynamic team? Qantas Founders Museum is seeking highly motivated, energetic and ambitious Tour Guides to join the team! This position includes Front of House customer service duties to ensure smooth day to day operations of the Museum.

As a Tour Guide at Qantas Founders Museum you will be multi-skilled and trained in all departments of the museum to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. You will also be trained to operate the incredible Luminescent Longreach experience with all training provided onsite by our experienced team.

Qantas Founders Museum offers great working conditions, uniforms and award rates of pay. The Museum is part of a National Heritage Listed site celebrating the foundations of our national and international Qantas story.
