Queensland Heritage Trails Network Story

line

link to heritage trail network websiteAn Australian first in its concept, the Queensland Heritage Trails Network (QHTN) was a $110 million project that features exciting tourism attractions at 32 rural and regional locations.

Ranging from the use of dynamic multimedia at Global Arts Link in Ipswich to the raw history of dinosaur trackways at Lark Quarry, each attraction will present the stories, characters, buildings and natural heritage that shape Queensland.

The Queensland Government and the Commonwealth Government through the Federation Fund formed a unique partnership with local government and private-sector sponsorship.

The Network was an initiative to celebrate the Centenary of Federation in 2001 and aimed to generate jobs, stimulate tourism and conserve heritage. Coinciding with the Australian Year of the Outback in 2002, the realisation of the Queensland Heritage Trails Network was timely in beckoning visitors to witness and participate in our State's Outback history, and experience first hand, the foundations of the spirit of Queensland.
