Right in the centre of Queensland, located o?n the Tropic of Capricorn approximately 700km west of Rockhampton and 1200km north-west of Brisbane, Longreach is situated o?n the crossroads of two major highways ? the Capricorn Highway from the east and the Landsborough Highway coming up from the south. Longreach is also strategically located within easy travelling distance of a number of premier tourist attractions including the Blackall Woolscour, the Australian Workers Heritage Centre in Barcaldine, the Australian Stockman?s Hall of Fame & Outback Heritage Centre Longreach, and Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton. Rail Discover the experience of Queensland Rail Traveltrains' multi-award winning ?Spirit of the Outback? fully-themed rail adventure operating twice weekly between Brisbane and Longreach, with a special ?Conquer the West? promotion operating between November and March each year. Discounted fares available. Departs Brisbane every Tuesday and Friday evening to arrive in Longreach the following night. Trains leave Longreach for Brisbane the following day.
