The education program is still in development. This is our vision.

Qantas Founders Outback Museum?s stated mission is to ?honour the founders? and to ?inspire youth?. With this as a central focus, the museum will devise programs and provide facilities that invite youth (and other community members) to share in the Qantas story and to participate in challenges that stimulate initiative, encourage creativity, build self-esteem and encourage cooperation.

The museum will be a place of provocation and a leader in the central western community for challenging and rewarding innovation.

Discovery Mission

A number of Discovery Mission, or educational trails in the form of subject specific tours, will be devised to encourage the school market to fully utilise the potential of the complex.

Educational Packages and support materials in the form of DISCOVERY MISSIONS for teachers and students will be developed which follow a set pro-forma and correlate with current curriculum in specific subject areas.

Discovery Mission materials will offer ideas for pre-visit, visit and post-visit activities and add a rich dimension to the visitors? experience by allowing displays to be read on a number of different levels.

Youth Challenge

This will be the Museum?s central and most prominent program and is designed to reflect the spirit of innovation, challenge and commitment that turned an idea into reality, and a dream into a source of national pride.

When developed, the Youth Challenge will become an annual event that will be widely publicised in the media. Individuals or groups of individuals would be invited to take up a challenge and work to develop innovative and visionary solutions to problems or ?challenges?.

Education Centre & Research Facility - "The Jo Shannon Room"

Support materials, books and documents will be accessible through the Education Centre in addition to a reading lounge, computer facilities, audiovisual, white board and other standard teaching equipment.

We now have the video of the landing of the 747 VH-EBQ at Longreach for viewing.

This facility is available free-of-charge to visiting schools and should be booked in advance.
